My name is Ashleigh and I am a self-appointed advocate for survivors of sexual violence. This means the content of this blog is geared towards some heavy and distressing subjects. It’s important that you take care of your mental health and emotional well-being while consuming the content on this blog so here are a few tips:

1.) Don’t read this in isolation – share it with a friend or trusted person and discuss how you feel afterward together and have some time to debrief and decompress together.

2.) If a title is distressing or particularly triggering, you are not obligated to read it. Your first priority is to care for your own well-being. You can always come back to it another time if it sings to you.

3.) Take breaks as you need to – get a glass of water, stretch your legs, or stand outside and feel the sun on your skin. It’s ok to take care of yourself while you’re reading some heavy material.

The aim of this blog is to share the experiences of Survivors and to put an end to our isolation and silence, to speak up to end the taboo, and put our cause – our rights and needs at the forefront of public consciousness. Ultimately this is an exercise in recognizing our worthiness to be respected to live full wonderful lives in spite of sexual violence. I hope that here you will find interesting content, learn from me and from others and that we can have interesting discussions respectfully like proper grown-ups.
